Advice to Anthony the Traveller (poem)

with 2 comments

Journeying to see travel’s deeper mystery,
you must stalk the scent of culture and history.
Track the traces of strange languages,
in the smiles of strangers find security,
in land and climate bleach your bones till they fade.
In the bounty of foreign wines steep your cares,
in the road’s unseen turnings winnow your soul,
amassing biographic chapters and honing your role,
chasing chicas, chiding the stay at homes,
homing in on the wanderers real rewards.
Reposing in stillness at the spirit’s centre,
may you always travel artfully.
