Suntrap (poem)

leave a comment »

A bumble bee got caught in a spider’s web
on a bush near the edge of the tide’s ebb

It’s home-trap nested in that vine
the arachnid calmly bided its time

I watched asking if cruelty is inevitable
the trapper’s patience was incredible

The bee struggled in its bonds
the wind waved the shrub’s fronds

I then did imagine my own demise
some predator’s pleasant surprise

but the bee finally untangled and got free
a glow of optimism as I walked on by the sea
